Reports published across the poker and mass media since Wednesday announce that FTP has joined forces with Fertitta Interactive, the company part-owned by Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, the owners of Station Casinos, a company that owns 8 Las Vegas casinos and operates another.

All sources highlight that no substantial business link between Station Casinos and FTP will be generated through this new joint legal venture. “Our arrangement with Full Tilt is confidential, but it is contingent on the passage of Federal legislation regulating internet poker.” Said co-owner of Fertitta Interactive, Tom Breitling, in an e-mail to the Las Vegas Review Journal (LVRJ).

It would appear that this group of stakeholders and major players in both the online and live poker industries are not willing to support the intrastate online poker bill, known as AB258, being heard by the Nevada Senate Judiciary Committee, upon which the Committee did not act last week. The bill has been openly supported by FTP’s main rival, and market leader, PokerStars, and is designed to allow the state of Nevada to launch state-regulated online poker and would allow PokerStars to operate its online poker operations in the state.

To this effect, Breitling is quoted by the LVRJ as saying: “We believe that a Federal law for online poker is the way to go. We do believe that a Federal online poker bill would be good for Nevada. Nevada is a leader in gaming regulation and we need the thousands of high-paying high-tech jobs and the millions in tax revenues associated with online poker.”

Online sources have noted that this the third deal of this type done in recent weeks: last, week, PokerStars hedged its bets by also partnering with Wynn Resorts that would back Federal regulation of online poker and would mean the creation of PokerStarsWynn.com in the case of Federal legalization. 888 is holding hands with Vegas giant Caesars Entertainment.

This line of thinking brought Tiltware (parent company of FTP) representative Ray Bitar to underline to the Wall Street Journal that he “couldn’t disclose the terms of the alliance with Fertitta Interactive, but that Full Tilt would continue to operate in the U.S. under the same name.”
